Since beginning sewing for Mission Haiti in 2011, Sioux Center women have made 833 dresses, skirts, or shorts for boys!! We are providing the poor in Haiti with beautifully sewn and badly needed clothing. Marie Vermeer has extra fabric if anyone wants to help. The patterns and instructions are on a table in the Fellowship Hall. Along with each item of clothing we provide panties/underwear for the children. If you are willing to purchase underwear or give a monetary donation for that, it would be a big help. Together we are making a huge difference for the girls and now the boys in Haiti.

Our church is currently sponsoring 209 children going to school through Mission Haiti. Classrooms are full and there are still kids not in school because there is no room. Donated books, CDs and DVDs are also being collected by Marie Ver Meer to start a library at the school.

Mission Haiti has started to raise funds to purchase land and build a very large Christian school campus. The campus will have both elementary and high school with future plans for a Vo-tech and Bible School. The new schools will offer students in the younger grades to attend English Emersion classrooms. The land purchased for the Bible school is currently being used as a boys home for young men that are too old to be in the orphanage but have no place to live.

You can get involved with Mission Haiti by donating food for the orphanage or tennis shoes for the school children; sponsoring a child to go to school or live in the orphanage; giving financially to help them purchase land (approx. $80,000), or spending a year there as a teacher or nurse. You can contact [email protected] if you would like more information.
